Executive Functioning Coaching
Executive functioning (EF) is the set of mental skills that we use every day to learn, work, and manage ourselves. EF includes the ability to set and achieve goals, plan, organize, make decisions, focus, get started on tasks, and even manage our emotions. Children, adolescents, and adults often experience EF difficulties alongside or as a result of ADHD, anxiety, depression, and learning disabilities.
EF coaching can help individuals learn and practice skills to better manage their day-to-day lives and reduce their EF challenges. Coaching children and teens often includes helping them organize their homework, learn how to prioritize school assignments, and tackle long-term projects. Coaching adults often includes strategies to organize and work more effectively and with less stress. While children engage in distance learning and parents work from home, EF coaching can be particularly helpful with establishing routines and structure, meeting deadlines, and making the day go by more smoothly.
EF coaching begins with an assessment to identify each individual’s profile of strengths and challenges to guide coaching sessions. EF coaching typically occurs weekly in hour-long sessions.
