Carolyn Michaels, Couples and Relationship Therapist

Carolyn is a couple and family therapist who works to help clients build deeper, healthier relationships with their loved ones. She believes that we are all fundamentally seeking intimacy and connection with each other, but there are many barriers that can impede this process, such as trauma, mood disorders, and negative core beliefs about ourselves.

Carolyn offers therapy to individuals and couples. She specializes in treating issues of communication, intimacy, infidelity, anxiety, depression, codependency, boundary-setting, and co-parenting. She is an LGBTQ+- competent and polyamory-informed practitioner.

Carolyn has worked in psychiatric hospitals, addiction treatment centers, and outpatient private practice as well as providing in-home family therapy. Across a variety of settings, she has integrated treatment approaches such as Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Mindfulness in order to guide clients through the process of better understanding their thoughts, emotions, and connections to others. Through comprehending the narratives which have shaped our lives, Carolyn believes we can overcome barriers and begin to write new and empowering stories about ourselves and our relationships.

Carolyn earned her BA in Psychology from Oberlin College, and her MS in Couples and Family Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University.
